Worcester County Public Schools (WCPS) serves 6,693 students. The school age population is approximately 15% of the county's population.

The 2010 Graduate Profile: 

Of the 526 WCPS graduates:

  • 81.0% plan to attend college or a special training school  
  • 07.0% plan to enter the military
  • 12.0% plan to enter employment
  • 00.0% have other plans or plans unknown

During the 2009-2010 school year, graduating seniors of WCPS were offered $12,475,058 in scholarships, grants, and merit-based awards. Graduates accepted $6,497,638. This amount does not include need-based dollars that many graduates received through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or other similar sources.

Adult Education:

WCPS provides adult education to approximately 300 students per year. Our programs help adults earn the a high school diploma; speak better English; and improve their parenting, writing, reading, and math skills. To date, 44 enrollees passed the General Educational Development (GED) Test in 2010 and earned the Maryland High School Diploma. Call 410-632-5071 to enroll in classess.

Special Education:

Services are provided to students with disabilities, including instructional and testing accommodations and direct services within general education classroom settings.  Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) are developed and reviewed annually to monitor progress and improve student achievement.

English Learners (EL) Program:

To assist students in learning the English language, our school system offers an EL program.  Nineteen (19) languages are spoken within our school system.
