Worcester County Public Schools (WCPS) serves 6,747 students. The school age population is approximately 16% of the county's population.

Dropout Rate:  Last year, WCPS had the lowest dropout rate in the state.

Students Eligible for Free and Reduced Meals(FARMS): 

33.8% of our students live in households at or below poverty and are eligible for FARMS.  The state average is 31.4%.

Of the 550 WCPS graduates:

  • 79.0% plan to attend college or a special training school  
  • 04.4% plan to enter the military
  • 16.6% plan to enter employment

During the 2007-2008 school year, graduating seniors of WCPS were offered $11,580,115 in scholarships, grants, and merit-based awards. Graduates accepted $5,854,612. This amount does not include need-based dollars that many graduates received through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or other similar sources.

Adult Education:


WCPS provides adult education to approximately 275 students per year. Our programs help adults earn the a high school diploma; speak better English; and improve their parenting, writing, reading, and math skills. To date, 32 enrollees passed the General Educational Development (GED) Test in 2008 and earned the Maryland High School Diploma. Call 410-632-5071 to enroll in classess.

Special Education:

Instructional programs provide targeted instruction at the student's level.  Careful and constant monitoring is conducted to review and update goals in order to improve student achievement.

English Language Learners (ELL) Program:

To assist students in learning the English language, our school system offers an ELL program.  Seventeen (17) languages are spoken within our school system.
