Duties and Responsibilities
The Board of Education determines the policies of the County’s educational system and prescribes rules and regulations for the conduct and management of the schools. The Board, through its executive officers, the Superintendent, and professional staff, exercises control and supervision over the school system.

Citizens Addressing the Board:
The Board of Education works for the citizens of Worcester County in providing the best education possible for every student. Interested persons are encouraged to attend all public meetings.
There are two ways for interested citizens to speak at a Board meeting:
The Worcester County Board of Education’s public meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday of each month at 12:30 PM, unless otherwise specified. Parents and community persons are encouraged to attend Board meetings and provide input to its members. Meetings are held to determine the policies of the County School System and to prescribe the rules and regulations for the conduct and management of the schools. Each month instructional programs are reviewed and matters ranging from personnel, to building maintenance, to the operating budget are discussed. Minutes for all open sessions are posted on this website and printed and kept on file as a permanent record.
The Agenda:
Closed Sessions are scheduled to discuss personnel matters, acquisition of property, collective bargaining, to obtain legal advice, and other matters in accordance with Maryland Article 810-508.
