Buckingham Elementary School is located in the town of Berlin, approximately 10 miles west of Ocean City in Worcester County, Maryland. As a neighborhood school, Buckingham Elementary School serves 438 students in grades PreK through 4. In 2001, the National School Board Association recognized Buckingham Elementary School's Project Outreach, a program designed to bridge the achievement gap among all students. Buckingham Elementary School has met AYP as established by the Maryland State Department of Education for the past four school years, as well as being home to a 2002 National Milken Educator Award Winner, Assistant Principal Mrs. Terry Smith, a former 1st grade teacher. Buckingham Elementary School has been recognized by the Maryland State Department of Education as a Positive Behaviors and Supports Exemplar School for the past five years. At BES, we believe that the staff, students, parents and community have come "Together For Success!"

The mission of Worcester County Northern Schools and Buckingham Elementary School, a growing and diverse community, is to provide a rigorous, sequential and balanced curriculum for all students to become responsible lifelong learners. This will be accomplished through instructional excellence in partnership with family and community in a safe, caring, well-maintained environment. We will recognize the uniqueness of each student's role as a productive citizen in an everchanging world.

2002 National Milken Educator Award Winner, Project Outreach was named a 2001 Better Government Competition Winner, Excellence in Education Grant Award, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 PBIS Exemplar School, 2004 Character Education School of the Year, 2005 Gold Plant Award Winner. Gary Williams, a parent of a fourth grade student, was named the Comcast Parent Involvement Matters Award winner for Worcester County.
