Pocomoke Elementary School became a Maryland Character Education School of the Year, a Panasonic National School Change Finalist, and was recognized by the Maryland Association of Curriculum and Supervisors as a Program of Excellence. In 2010, the school was named a Panasonic National School Change Winner - only one of six in the United States established to recognize schools that have risen to exemplary status based on student achievement. In 2011, PES received the Silver Hammer Award and was recognized in an awards ceremony by the Comptroller's Office in Annapolis.
